Road-rage assault / Statesman tops again / Bison Crossing sparks hopes

  Criminal damage to property, assault --  Police responded to the Shell station at 1200 N. Arlington Heights Road on report of a road-rage incident that led to criminal damage to a vehicle and an alleged assault. Reports say officers met with a complaint, who said he accidently cut off another driver and was followed into the gas station by a male in a white Toyota Prius. Police say the driver of the Toyota blocked the complainant in his parking space. The male .subject reportedly got out of his car and began yelling at the complainant. He then reportedly took out a large knife and motioned towards the complainant. The complainant began to run away  at which time the offender slashed his rear driver-side tire, and then drove away southbound towards Fremont Way. This investigation is ongoing. Retail theft – A customer at Woodman’s Market was nabbed for trying to take $316 worth of items out of the store without paying. The customer received a trespass warning and an adjudication ticket for retail theft. Theft – A woman told police that she accidentally left her purse on a shelf while shopping at Garden Fresh, 770 S. Buffalo Grove Rd. When she went to pay for her merchandise, she realized it was missing. Unable to find her wallet, she contacted the manager and reviewed the store’s video. It showed a female take the purse that was laying on a shelf and walk out the store with it. The purse was later found lying on the sidewalk near the store missing $250 in cash. Burglary to motor vehicle – A resident of Villa Verde told police that someone broke into his car and an undisclosed item from the dashboard. Police quell argument at restaurant -- Police responded to Guzman Y Gomez for a customer-management complaint. Police say the complainant reported while he was trying to figure out if the business was open, a subject inside a vehicle in the parking lot threatened him. The complainant said when he left in his vehicle, the subject who threatened him, threw a rock toward his vehicle without striking it. He left the immediate area and contacted the police to have the subject spoken to. When police arrived, they met with the subject who was involved in the verbal altercation. The subject denied having any verbal altercations with anyone. A witness told police he observed the complainant trying to get a hold of restaurant staff because the restaurant was not open, and he wanted the food he ordered. The witness saw the complainant and the other party argue until the complainant left. Police offered advice on what to do if this situation happens again. Police left after the situation was reso
