Park Board
appoints new commissioner
![]() |
Tracy Bragg |
The
Buffalo Grove Park District Board of Directors has named Tracy Bragg to fill
the vacancy left by former Commissioner Jack Schmerer.
Bragg will fill the remainder of the first two
years of Schmerer’s term until April 2019. The full term expires with the April
2021 election. Because the majority of the term has not passed, state law requires
that the balance of the term be up for election during the next consolidated
election in April 2019.
Bragg comes to the Buffalo Grove Park District
with a wide range of professional experience that includes time as a part-time
employee at the Park District and years as a community volunteer. An eight-year
resident of Buffalo Grove, Bragg has worked in the healthcare industry for more
than 20 years. She joined Northwestern Medicine - Lake Forest in April 2018,
where she is the Employee Health Coordinator, and oversees multiple phases of
the occupational health clinical program.
Before working for Northwestern Medicine, Bragg
worked for five and a half years as an Insurance Verifier at Advocate Condell
Medical Center in Libertyville; and held a variety of positions at Decatur Memorial
Hospital during her fourteen years there.
After moving to Buffalo Grove from Decatur,
Illinois, Bragg’s first job in the area was at the Buffalo Grove Park District,
where she worked for a year in the marketing department as the partnerships
coordinator, securing corporate sponsorship agreements, and representing the
District within the business community.
Bragg graduated as a certified nursing
assistant from Carl Sandburg College in Galesburg, Illinois. She also completed
course work at Millikin University in Communication, and general studies at
Richland Community College, both in Decatur, Illinois.
Bragg has a variety of volunteer experiences,
including serving on the Women’s Board at Libertyville First Presbyterian
Church, and fundraising for United Way and Special Olympics of Illinois.
“Both the staff and Board are very excited about
Tracy Bragg being our new Commissioner. She did great work for us when she
worked here part time; and, her intelligence, enthusiasm and professionalism
will make her a great Park Board commissioner,” Buffalo Grove Park District
Executive Director Ryan Risinger said.
