Got News?

Dear reader,
You may have noticed a blog, “B.G. News & Info.” that has been posted here during the past week and wondered what it is all about.
            Wonder no more.
With the decline of access to local news, there is a need for community organizations, civic organizations, school districts, churches, synagogues and other places of worship to get their news and information out.
That’s what this blog is hoping to be – that venue by which Buffalo Grove residents can submit and get local news on a regular basis .It will be an ongoing work-in-progress.
This will not be a place for my opinions – Gaggin’ in the Grove will continue to be that forum.  Instead, “B.G. News & Info.” will be an aggregation of local news and story ideas from you and community organizations. You will find short articles as links to news and information. While most stories will be generated by submission, there will be profiles and features that I will write based on ideas generated by organizations or you, the reader.
And what about  your opinions?  My plans are to include links to opinion pieces submitted by readers.  I am asking that they be limited to 350 words and, like all submissions, include an email address and phone number for verification.
Why do a hyper-local blog? Because leading journalism organizations have found that access to local news not only informs residents, but also encourages civic engagement.  That’s one reason “B.G. News & Info” will include stories about village boards, school board and park boards in addition to feature stories and profiles about interesting residents and businesses.
There is a Facebook page, B.G. News and Info., as well as a Twitter handle, @BGNewsInfo1.
Please feel free to submit stories and story ideas to the “B.G. News & Info” by email to BuffaloGroveNews@Gmail.com.  Please include a contact name, phone number and email address.
Thanks in advance for your cooperation and participation.
