Hearing set on nomination petition
A hearing in the nomination documents filed by Gowri Magati who is seeking one of the three openings on the Buffalo Grove Village Board, is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 8. The hearing is the result of a petition of objection filed by former Village Board member Jeffrey Berman.
Under the Illinois Election Code, hearing will be conducted by an electoral board consists of the Village Board President, the Village Clerk and the senior trustee.
However, the senior trustees, Lester Ottenheimer Joanne Johnson and Andrew Stein, are on the ballot, which prohibits them from being on the electoral board. The code stipulates that a member of the general public be appointed by the chief judge for Cook County Circuit Court. That member is attorney Laura Jacksack. Her web page touts her practice as specializing in “political and election law, and small business law, advising and representing both non-profit and for-profit businesses, as well as individuals and political entities.”
Information about the hearing and access via Zoom is at this link.

However, take them to one of these nearby sites provided by the Solid Waste Agency of Cook County (SWANCC) including Hoffman Estates Village Hall, the Wheeling Public Works Building and the Rolling Meadows Public Works Building.
Speaking of holiday recycling
Waste Management will recycle your Christmas tree on your regular trash collection day through Friday, Jan. 15. Trees must be clean (no ornaments, lights or tinsel attached) unbagged and under six feet in length. If the tree is more than six feet tall, it should be cut into two pieces, each under six feet in length.
Fewer DUIs
