Residential burglary – Police are continuing their investigation into a burglary at a home in the 800 Block of Hollystone Lane. Police say the residents estimate the time of the break-in was between 9 p.m. on June 1 and 9 a.m. on June 2. Reports say various items were taken, but did not detail what was taken or the estimated value of the loss.
Out on a limb -- A 39-year-old Buffalo Grove man received five citations after police responded to a crash in the 700 block of White Pine Road. Upon arrival police observed a vehicle that crashed into a tree. The driver, police say, was found in the driver’s seat of the vehicle that crashed into the tree. Police say the driver showed signs of alcohol impairment. He was arrested and charged with DUI, speeding, driving too fast for conditions, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and having license plate covers, he was then released from custody. He was not cited for damaging city property, as is the case in some municipalities. The tree was not charged.
Mowed down -- Police say a resident in the 100 block of Forest Place told them he left his lawn mower in the front yard near the curb of the street while he went to the backyard to retrieve something. When he came back, the lawn mower was missing.
Criminal damage to property – A resident in the 60 block of Willow Parkway told police the driver's side rear window was shattered sometime overnight on May 31.
Office theft -- An employee in an office in the 1100 block of Lake-Cook Road told police her MacBook was taken from her office. Reports say that she left her office to go down the hall to speak to a coworker and when she returned the laptop was gone.
Scooter swiped -- A customer at Woodman’s told police that he parked his electric scooter at the bicycle racks located on the west side of Woodman’s Market on May 31 and when he returned, the scooter was gone.
And if you’re scoring at home – The Buffalo Grove Police report that from May 29 to June 5, there were three tickets written for DUI, one for using electronic communications while driving, two for driving on a revoked license, one for driving without insurance, three speeding tickets, one ticket for disobeying a pedestrian controlled signal – and one ticket for operating a vehicle with license plate covers.

Farmers Market opens Sunday
The Buffalo Grove Farmers Market begins its 16th season Sunday, June 16 with more than 30 vendors expected to participate.
Located in Mike Rylko Park, the Farmers Market is open from 8 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. This year, the market will be located to the adjoining parking lot, which is the center, ballfield parking lot with the same entrances as in previous years.
Farmers Market officials are hopeful the growth they saw in attendance last year will continue. They estimate that nearly 15,000 people shopped at the market, a 16% increase over 2022.
The growth also continues in the number of vendors. The 33 vendors scheduled to participate on June 16 eclipses participation levels from last year and, say officials, “we still have more applications coming in.”

D21 registration event June 17
Community Consolidated School District 21 is holding a student registration event from noon to 7 p.m. on Monday, June 17, at the : District 21 Community Service Center and Administrative Office, 959 W. Dundee Rd., Wheeling.
This event is designed to make the registration process easy and convenient for new and returning students and their families.
Parents are encouraged to bring the necessary documents, including three proofs of residency, birth certificates and immunization records. To make the process simpler, please review the registration checklist available at this link prior to attending the event.
Peterson Pool open
The Peterson Park Pool, also known as the Jacob Grossman Aquatic Center, is now open. The pool, at 16652 N Buffalo Grove Rd. is open through Friday, August 9.
The pool hours are 1- 8 p.m. Monday-Friday and from noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
Water slide availability depends on daily staffing. Season passes can be purchased at the pool concession stand during normal pool hours. Vernon Township is also offering punch cards for frequent resident guests.
Private swim lessons offered through the American Red Cross will be available for beginner, advanced and intermediate level swimmers. Contact the pool at 847-913-0799 to book your private swim lessons.
Pool rentals for private parties are also available on Saturdays and Sundays from 9:45 - 11:45 a.m. or 6:15 - 8:15 p.m. To arrange for a pool rental, please call Chris at 847-634-6060.
Township plans ‘VT Palooza’
Vernon Township is hosting its first “VT Palooza” from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday. at William E. Peterson Park, 16652 N. Buffalo Grove Rd.
This free family event will include games, live music and food trucks. Additional information is at this link.
Flag Day observance set
The Park District is hosting a Flag Day program at 4:45 p.m. at Veterans Park, 1300 N. Weiland Rd. on Friday, June 14.
The Buffalo Grove Police and Fire Department's Honor Guard will present the colors. Speeches, a changing of the flags ceremony, and music will also be part of the program. There is no rain date for this event. For more information, contact Mike Pfeiffer at 847-850-2108.
Free ice cream will be available starting at 4:45 p.m.
‘Tots In The Park’ Friday
The Park District is holding a “Tots in the Park” program from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. on Friday, June 14 at the Alcott Center, 530 Bernard Drive.
The program will feature singing and dancing with Super Stolie. Participants are encouraged to bring a blanket and pack some snacks for a picnic. In case of inclement weather, performances will be held inside the Alcott Center. For more information, contact Mike Pfeiffer at 847-850-2108.
Comm. Director cited
Buffalo Grove’s Director of Communication and Engagement, Molly Gillespie, on being named The Legacy Project's Emerging Professional Leader for 2024.
This new award recognizes a professional member who has made exemplary contributions to the common good and the profession through public service over the last year through their local municipal work or by making substantial changes throughout the organization.
Gillespie was cited for her work on the village’s branding initiative and transforming and communications efforts.
The Legacy Project touts its mission as advancing women in local government by learning, connecting, and promoting the career path in local government.
Chabad plans Shavuot events
Northwest Suburban Chabad is offering a series of events for Shavuot, from sunset June 11 until nightfall on June 13.
The observance starts with all-night learning from 11 p.m. on Tuesday through 3 a.m. Wednesday.
