Felony drug charges / Fire heroes honored / Green Fair Sunday
Man faces felony drug charges -- A 33-year-old Buffalo Grove man is facing multiple felony drug charges following a sting involving local, county and federal law enforcement agencies.
According to a news release from the Lake County sheriff’s office that appeared in the Daily Herald. Zans Batjuks is charged with manufacturing ecstasy, possession of ecstasy, manufacturing and delivery of cannabis and possession of cannabis.
Aggravated unlawful use of weapon -- A 38-Year-Old Mundelein man was charged
with a felony count of Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon (handgun found in the vehicle), and three misdemeanor counts, one for battery with bodily harm, battery making physical contact, and reckless driving following a traffic incident. Police reports say when they arrived at the intersection of McHenry Road and Deerfield Parkway, they learned that the man who was charged allegedly battered the other driver involved.
Criminal damage to property – A resident in the 800 block of Clohesey Drive told police that an unknown person or persons, just "Keyed" a vehicle in her driveway. She told responding officers that she heard some commotion outside near their driveway. looked out her window and saw a subject running away from their driveway towards a vehicle parked in the Ivy Hall School parking lot (1072 Ivy Hall Ln), went outside and located a long scratch down the passenger side of their Lincoln MKZ.
The resident stated the offender(s) left in a dark-colored vehicle.
Motor vehicle burglary – A resident in the 800 block of Prague Avenue told police that someone entered her vehicle and stole her property. The resident said she parked her car in her driveway and later discovered her glove box was open, and her vehicle appeared to be disorderly and ransacked.
In a second incident, a resident in the 1100 block of Johnson Drive said someone entered her vehicle and took an unknown amount of loose change.
Motor vehicle theft – A resident in the 1200 block Johnson Drive reported his gray Ford Taurus was stolen. Reports say officers located the vehicle parked in a parking lot. Reports say there was
located damage along the front bumper, at the rear right corner, and a scratch along the left side doors which were not present when the resident last saw the vehicle.

Firefighters cited for heroic efforts
Three Buffalo Grove Firefighters, Lt. Daniel Downey, firefighter Phil Schroeder and firefighter Kyle Ditthardt received a unit citation for bravery for their work aiding the Arlington Heights Fire Department in a residential fire on Aug. 14.
In a presentation at the Sept. 16 Village Board meeting, Fire Chief Larry Kane said that while “these gentlemen will shrug their actions off as “just doing their job,” the actions of these three individuals had a positive outcome on the lives of four individuals. These gentlemen performed to the highest tradition of the Buffalo Grove Fire Department and the fire service”. Additional information is in this report from the Daily Herald.
Public Safety open house Saturday
The Buffalo Grove Fire and Police Departments will host their annual Public Safety Open House from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. this Saturday, Sept. 21 at Buffalo Grove Fire Station 26, 1051 Highland Grove Drive in Buffalo Grove.
The event allows visitors to learn more about Buffalo Grove emergency services by exploring police and fire vehicles up close and seeing emergency equipment in action.
Live demonstrations will include vehicle extrications, a dive tank and live fire displays.
The event will also offer hands-on fire extinguisher training for adults and a junior firefighter challenge for children. Food will be available for purchase from Wiener Take All from 11:15 a.m. – 1:45 p.m.
The Public Safety Open House is part of National Preparedness Month and marks the beginning of National Fire Prevention Week, designated as October 6 - 12. The theme for this year is "Smoke alarms: Make them work for you!"
State reps to meet constituents
State Rep. Daniel Didech (D-59) and Tracy Katz Muhl (D-57) will participate in a “Meet Your State Reps” event at the Indian Trails Public Library at 4 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 23. Both reps. will be on hand to update constituents on their work in Springfield.

Green Fair Sept. 22
The Buffalo Grove Environmental Action Team is hosting its annual Green Fair on Sunday, September 22 from 8 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. during the Buffalo Grove Farmers Market at Mike Rylko Community Park. The free event will offer information and activities related to environmental action. Residents can also bring materials to be properly recycled, including books, bikes, shoes, clothing and more. Culver’s, cops team up for Special Olympics
Join members of the Buffalo Grove Police Department on Wednesday, September 25 at Culver's at 450 McHenry Rd. for “Butterburgers and Badges”, supporting Special Olympics Illinois athletes.
The event runs all day, with BGPD Officers will be there from 4 - 7 p.m.
BG Days parade winners announced
Winning entries in this year’s Buffalo Grove Days parade were honored by the Village Board at its meeting Monday, Sept. 16.
The winners were:
· Young Buff’ Award, recognizing the best youth group representing the future of BG: 4C STEM Club
· Groovin’ Buffalo Award, recognizing best musical or dance unit capturing the spirit of BG: Buffalo Creek Brass Band
· Rollin’ Buffalo Award, recognizing the best float/decorated vehicle: Buffalo Grove Park District

BG Singers to perform
The BG Singers will begin their 29th season with their fall concert, Happy!

Bowl with Buddies at Bowlero
Buffalo Grove’s Rick Kahen Commission for Residents with Disabilities , in partnership with the Rotary Club of Buffalo Grove is hosting the 6th Annual Bowling with Buddies event for individuals with disabilities from 6 - 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 23 at Bowlero, 350 McHenry Rd.
