Clove to get approval? / Senior Expo / Shredding event
A slow week on the police beat – Aside from a few traffic arrests, police only reported a burglary to vehicle was reported in the 1000 block of Mill Creek Drive. According to reports, the owner said the vehicle was entered on March 30. Police say several personal items were stolen from the vehicle.

Board likely to discuss “The Clove” Monday
The Village Board is likely to discuss and possibly take action on “The Clove,” the planned redevelopment of Town Center, at its meeting Monday, April 18. The Board discussion will come on the heels of the April 6 meeting of the Planning and Zoning Commission during which commissioners approved the plan.

Movement ahead?
The Journal & Topics reported Monday that there may be movement on development of properties owned by the Bob Rohrman Auto Group. The keyword is may. While the Journal and Topics’ reporting said new development could come “soon”, one village official told BGNI that “There is no movement yet,” but that village continues to work with key parties on developing the site.
Fire Department eyes buddy program
The Buffalo Grove Fire Department is considering participating in the Project Fire Buddies program which gives first responders the opportunity to work with children suffering from serious illnesses. Plan ahead for smoke alarm compliance
Homes that have smoke alarms with removable batteries will be required to install new 10-year sealed battery alarms by Jan. 1, 2023 to be in compliance with the updated Illinois Smoke Detector Act.

Summer pool passes on sale now
Summer pool passes are available for purchase at the Alcott Center, 530 Bernard Drive. The passes can be used for both lap swim and open swim all summer long at Willow Stream Pool. Pass holders also receive discounts at the Spray ‘N Play.
Pool passes are available to Buffalo Grove Park District residents and nonresidents ages 3 years and older. All passes are issued at the Alcott Center during normal business hours.

Children’s musical set
Big Deal Productions will present Moana, Jr. for its Children’s Spring Musical theatre production.
Performances will be held at the Community Arts Center, 225 McHenry Road, at 7 pm on April 28 and 29 and April 30 and at 3 pm on May 1. All tickets are $12 in advance or $15 at the door, plus a 95-cent service fee per ticket. For more information, contact Lindsay Grandt at (847).850.2132.

Vendors wanted for senior expo
The Park District is hosting its annual senior citizen expo from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m., Friday, April 22 at the Community Arts Center. This free event provides a one-stop shop for seniors to interact with vendors and service providers, enabling them to become familiar with the wide range of services available to them. There will also be raffle prizes. Additional information is available at this link.

Vernon Twp. plans free shredding event April 18
The Vernon Township Highway Department will host a free shredding event from noon to 2:30 p.m. on Monday, April 18th at the Vernon Township Administrative Office, 3050 N. Main St. in Buffalo Grove.
Residents can shred cancelled or unused checks, old insurance policies, old bills, old medical records and invoices. Magazines, newspapers, manila folders or binders cannot be shredded. Only paper will be shredded. Metal or plastic items will not be accepted.
Residents are limited to three medium-sized boxes or bags. If you have any questions, call (847) 634-4600.
Stevenson honors athletic hall of famers
The Stevenson Athletic Department honored its Class of 2020 and Class of 2021 Hall of Fame Inductees on Saturday.
The Class of 2020 inductees were: Pat Ambrose, Dr. Rick DuFour, Patrick Joyce, John Martin and Ashley Wanland while the Class of 2021 inductees were: Danielle Mall, Stephanie Miller, Todd Schmitke, Boomer Whipple and Sean Wimer.
The Athletic Department is already thinking about inductees for the Athletic Hall of Fame class of 2022 and is accepting nominations from now until May 15. Nominations can be made at: at this link..
