Man charged in attack on officer
A 45-year-old Buffalo Grove man is due in court Nov. 26 facing multiple charges following a Nov. 1 incident. Charges include aggravated battery to a peace officer, obstructing a peace officer, domestic battery, and unlawful restraint.
** Retail theft – Police report that A person stole $316.68 worth of merchandise from the business. Police say the investigation is ongoing.

Veterans Day celebration set
The Park District will honor the nation’s veterans in a program from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. today, Tuesday, Nov. 11, with a ceremony at the Community Arts Center, 225 N. McHenry Rd.

The VFW Post 981 Color Guard will present and retire The Colors. There will also be speeches, and patriotic music.

Arlington Heights Road project enters new phase
New traffic configurations are in place along Arlington Heights Road as part of the reconstruction of the 1.5-mile roadway.
According to the Lake County Division of Transportation, landscape restoration and guardrail installation were completed last week along the eastern lanes of Arlington Heights Road. Traffic shifted to Stage 4 where drivers are now using the outside lanes so the contractor can reconstruct the medians in the center lane. Additional details are available here.
Chambers plan ‘morning mingle’
The Buffalo Grove-Lincolnshire Chamber of Commerce, along with the Deerfield-Bannockburn-Riverwoods (DBR) Chamber of Commerce is hosting a morning mingle from 7:30 to 9 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 14 at the office of the DBR, 570 Lake-Cook Rd., Deerfield.
The event is $15 for members and $25 for nonmembers and includes coffee and light bites and conversations designed to make networking easier, more fun, and more impactful. For more information, call the Buffalo Grove-Lincolnshire Chamber office at (847) 541-7799.
Village starts storytelling program
The Village has launched “Faces of Buffalo Grove,” a new photo and storytelling campaign designed to celebrate the people who make the community vibrant, diverse, and unique.
Residents are invited to participate by submitting a favorite photo or story that captures their connection to Buffalo Grove or by signing up for one of two professional photoshoots hosted by the Village on November 18 and 19. Photos and stories may be featured in Village publications, marketing materials, and online communications.
Participation is voluntary and open to all residents. Those interested can learn more or sign up at this link. If more participants sign up for photoshoots than available time slots, the Village will select participants by random drawing.
Faces of Buffalo Grove is part of the Village’s ongoing efforts to authentically represent and connect with residents across all backgrounds, ages, abilities, and experiences.

Another holiday, another crackdown
Buffalo Grove Police are joining police departments around the state in the “Click It or Ticket” and “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” enforcement campaigns run from Nov. 21 to Dec. 2 where officers will be looking to gobble up turkeys who drive without paying attention to things that add dressing to driving. These include seat-belt violations, speeding, distracted driving, and impaired driving due to alcohol or drugs, including cannabis.
This Thanksgiving enforcement effort is stuffed with funds by federal traffic safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation and aligns with Illinois’ statewide “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over,” “Click It or Ticket” and “It’s Not a Game” campaigns.
Thanksgiving food drive at library
The Indian Trails Public Library District is holding a food drive through Nov. 24.
The Library is collecting non-perishable food items to support local families in need. Donations can be dropped off at the main library, 355 Schoenbeck Rd. in Wheeling. All donations will be given to the Wheeling Township Food Pantry.
Items that are needed by the Food Pantry include items for baking, canned items, cereal, household cleaning supplies and personal hygiene products for men and women.
BGPD gets traffic grant
The Buffalo Grove Police Department (BGPD) has been awarded a Sustained Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) grant. The federal grant, totaling $52,461, will support increased traffic safety enforcement efforts aimed at saving lives and reducing crashes.
The grant year runs from October 1, 2025 through September 30, 2026. During this time, the BGPD will conduct additional enforcement operations, particularly during high-risk periods. These operations will focus on dangerous driving behaviors, including speeding, impaired driving, distracted driving, failure to yield, disobeying traffic signals and seat belt violations.
‘Mini Comic Con’ set at Vernon Library
The Vernon Area Library is hosting a ‘Mini Comic Con’ from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 15.
