Residential Burglary -- A resident in the 40 block of Sunridge Ln. told police that his home was ransacked. Reports say an undisclosed amount of Jewelry was missing. Police say the investigation is ongoing.
Retail Theft – A 34-year-old Lake Zurich man was charged with one felony count of retail theft after he reportedly took several items from Nerd Rage Gaming, 1631 W. Dundee Rd. without paying.
Forgery – Buffalo Grove Police are continuing their investigation into a case where a cashier at Walgreens, 15 N. Buffalo Grove Rd., reportedly received a counterfeit $100 bill.
Multiple charges follow traffic stop – A 37-year-old Buffalo Grove woman is facing four charges, including fleeing to elude a peace officer after a traffic stop at Lake Cook and Arlington Heights Roads. Other charges include , obstructing an officer, driving on a revoked license, operating a motor vehicle with suspended registration, operating an uninsured motor vehicle. She is due in court on March 24 in Cook County Circuit Court in Rolling Meadows.
Public indecency: A 20-year -old Park City man was charged with two counts of public indecency/lewd exposure following an incident at the Royal Touch Car Wash. According to police reports, the man entered the car wash line in his vehicle with a ski mask on his face and exposed himself to car wash employees. Police were able to locate the man and arrest him for indecent exposure.
Theft -- A man told police that his locker in the men’s locker at the Twin Rinks Ice Pavilion room was broken into and $60 cash and one credit card was stolen. This investigation is ongoing.

Schneider reappointed to Foreign Affairs Committee
Rep. Brad Schneider (IL-10) has been reappointed to a fifth term on the House Foreign Affairs Committee. In addition to the Foreign Affairs Committee, Schneider is also a member of the powerful Ways and Means Committee.
“I am deeply honored to again be selected to serve on the Foreign Affairs Committee. At a moment when President Trump is taking a sledgehammer to America’s alliances and Elon Musk is steamrolling America’s soft power, we need strong, experienced foreign policy leaders who will stand up to and call out the Administration when it threatens our national security and interests across the globe. I look forward to bringing my experience and voice to the Committee,” Schneider said in a statement.
Village maintains AAA bond rating
Standard & Poor’s Global Ratings (S&P) has once again assigned its highest possible bond rating – ‘AAA’ – to the Village of Buffalo’s 2025 General Obligation (GO) bonds and reaffirmed the ‘AAA’ rating for all outstanding GO debt.
S&P’s updated rating reflects Buffalo Grove’s continued financial strength, robust management practices, and a strong local economy. The rating agency cited the Village’s sound fiscal policies, long-term financial planning, and disciplined budgetary controls as key factors in maintaining this top-tier rating.
The proceeds from the Village’s $24.69 million GO bond issuance will support critical capital projects, including the construction of a new Fire Station 25 on Dundee Road, improvements to existing Fire Station 26 on Deerfield Parkway, and street infrastructure enhancements. The Village continues to maintain strong financial reserves, with no plans for unanticipated spending, further reinforcing its financial stability.
Village Manager gets $30k bonus
Citing financial stability and long-range planning, the Buffalo Grove Village Board awarded Village Manager, Dane Bragg, a $30,000 bonus for his performance in 2024. – The Daily Herald
Farmers Market applications available
Vendors, non-profit organizations or businesses that want to be included in the 2025 Farmers Market can now request an application.

Rotary names cop of the year
Buffalo Grove Police Officer Timothy Kroski, who joined the Buffalo Grove Police Department in 2020, has been named the 2024 Police Officer of the Year. According to The Daily Herald, the award is presented annually by the Rotary Club of Buffalo Grove.
Coffee with a cop Feb. 28
Residents who are out and about early can have coffee with a cop, from 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. on Feb. 28 at the McDonald’s at 1200 N Arlington Heights Road. The event gives residents a chance to chat with Buffalo Grove police officers about community safety, learn more about their jobs.
Fire Department moving services to temporary station
A variety of services will be moved from Fire Station No. 25 at 505 W. Dundee Road to the temporary station at 51 Raupp Blvd. The Daily Herald reports that “Fire operations at the temporary location will begin the first week of March and is expected to have no impact on emergency response times.”
Citizen Police Academy applications now open
Residents can get an inside look at the field of law enforcement through the Citizen Police Academy, a nine-week, hands-on program. Participants will have the opportunity to learn about crime scene processing, traffic enforcement, first aid, and self defense.

Blood drive March 1
A blood drive is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 1 at the Alcott Center, 530 Bernard Dr. Donors are required to provide an ID, and the entire blood donation process takes about one hour. Village officials claim “…The police transparency page is part of the Buffalo Grove Police Department’s broader efforts to provide open access to a variety of valuable resources. The page also features other easy access to other information already available like current crime trends and the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) portal.”
Park District job fair set
The Park District is holding a summer job fair at the Community Arts Center from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 5 at the Community Arts Center, 225 McHenry Rd.
Attendees can learn about all the summer job opportunities available at the Park District. Several members of our staff will be on hand to answer questions, accept job applications, and do on-site interviews.

Village officials lobby in Springfield
Members of the Village Board and staff attended the Northwest Municipal Conferences annual lobbying days in Springfield last week.
Village President Eric Smith is a Board member and Secretary of the Northwest Municipal Conference. He is also a member of its Legislative Committee as is Trustee Joanne Johnson.
Also attending was Village Manager Dane Bragg and Assistant Village Manager, Tyler Grace.
Smith said a legislative agenda was presented to State Senators, including Majority Leader Don Harmon, and State Representatives, including Minority Leader Tony McCombie.
They also attended Governor’s J.B. Pritzker’s State of the State address.
