Cops probe burglaries / "Work America" photo exhibit / Traffic crackdown
Residential burglary – Police are investigating a burglary to a home in the 1000 block of Brandywyn Lane. Reports indicate burglars apparently gained entrance to the home through the front door. Police say several rooms were ransacked. According to reports, miscellaneous currency and jewelry were taken.
Business burglary -- Police are investigating a burglary to a business in the 1300 block of west Dundee Road. Reports say the front glass door was shattered and left partially open. Reports also indicate that the front display case appeared to have been opened and items were missing. Some merchandise was found on the sidewalk outside.
Battery – Police called to a business in the 600 block of Deerfield Parkway following a report of an employee altercation that resulted in charges against one man. Reports say two men were talking and laughing when the offender, a 50-year-old Chicago man, approached one and slapped him in the face three times with an open hand. He was charged with one count of battery.
Auto burglary – A resident contacted police to report that someone broke into her car while it was parked in the 100 block of Steeple Drive. The owner said her laptop was taken. Police say they did not observe any forced entry into the vehicle, a 2019 Honda CRV.
Theft – A package left at a home in the 1200 block of Ranchview Court never made it to its intended recipient. The resident told police that the package, an air quality monitor, was apparently taken with the only remnant of the delivery being an empty Whole Foods bag.

“Working America” photo exhibit open
“Working America,” a photography exhibit by Sam Comen is on display at the Raupp Museum through Jan. 7.
Comen’s presentation shows American immigrants and first-generation Americans at work in the small skilled trades as icons of the American experience.
The subjects share stories of economic independence and struggle, belonging and exclusion, faith and fear, and service to both community and family. Details about the exhibit, as told by Comen, can be found here.

Village Board meets Dec. 2
The Buffalo Grove Village Board is scheduled to meet at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 2. It is expected that the Board will vote on the budget. The budget hearing was held Nov. 14.
The Dec. 2 meeting will be in the Braiman Council Chambers at Village Hall, 50 Raupp Blvd.

Holiday hours listed
Non-emergency village offices will be closed Thursday and Friday, Nov. 28 and 29 for Thanksgiving. Waste Management’s waste collection will be delayed by one day next week for residents with regular pickups on Thursday and Friday.
Overnight street parking restrictions will be lifted from Wednesday evening, Nov. 27 through Saturday evening, Nov. 30.

Cops aim to gobble up scofflaws
The Buffalo Grove Police Department is participating in the “Click It or Ticket” and “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” enforcement campaign running through Dec. 2.
According to law enforcement officials, proper seat-belt use is the most effective way to protect vehicle occupants. According to the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), the statewide seat-belt usage rate stands at 92.4%.
The Thanksgiving enforcement effort is made possible by federal traffic safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
Lake County Board OK’s budget
The Lake County Board approved a $659 million fiscal year 2025 budget at its Nov. 12 meeting The operating funds, which support most government services, are balanced at $386.2 million.
The budget funds Lake County's services, including transportation and infrastructure, health services, courts and public safety. The budget includes several new initiatives that advance Lake County’s six strategic priorities. The budget allocates resources to open Lake County’s newest building, the Regional Operations and Communications (ROC) facility, in 2025.
