Park District to completely shut down

A day after saying it would cancel all programs, but keep the golf dome and fitness center open, the Buffalo Grove Park District has decided to shut all facilities.

In a post on its Facebook page, the Park District said:

With today’s change in the CDC’s recommendations regarding mass gatherings - to cancel or postpone in-person events that consist of 50 people or more throughout the United States - the Buffalo Grove Park District has decided to now close all facilities effective Tuesday, March 17. The Fitness Center and Golf Dome will remain open through the end of Monday’s regularly scheduled hours, but will not reopen to the public beginning Tuesday, March 17.
We are planning on being shut down at least through Sunday, March 29; however, that could be extended longer. As those decisions are made, we will publicize those updates through our normal communication channels.

For those who are registered in programs, or have a membership at the Fitness Center, you do not need to do anything. You will not have to pay for any missed or cancelled programs, or days in which the Fitness Center is not available. Refunds or account credits will unilaterally be issued by the Park District; however, because this a manual process that is being conducted on a huge scale, please allow at least 30 days for these to be processed to all necessary accounts.

Please note: The Alcott Center will be open on Tuesday, March 17 as an election polling place. People coming to vote will be the only ones permitted in the building.

Buffalo Grove police are continuing their investigations into a rash of crimes involving motor vehicles. Police report four burglaries involving vehicles in addition to reports of criminal damage to a motor vehicle and stolen car. The first in a series of burglaries to motor vehicles occurred in the 1900 of north Buffalo Grove where a resident told police that an unknown offender entered her vehicle and stole various items. A second incident was reported in the 900 block of Twisted Oak where a resident said someone entered two of his vehicles and stole various items. A third incident was reported in the 1300 block of Larchmont Drive. As was the case in the previous incidents, a resident told police someone entered his vehicle and stole various items. Shopping plaza hit by two crimes / BG Road foes get more visible / 'Go Green" event set

Spoerlein Commons hit twice – Police report a pair of incidents at Spoerlein Commons shopping plaza. In one incident, police say an unknown subject or subjects entered a maintenance room and damaged the property with paint.  Police say the second incident is being investigated as a person told police that he found the rear exterior door of his business damaged, and money missing from the cash register. Retail theft -- Police are continuing their investigation into the theft of seven bottles of liquor from the Walgreens at 1701 N Buffalo Grove Rd. The value of the stolen goods was set at   $209.93 Residential theft -- A resident in the 800 block of Trace Drive told police his bike was stolen from what they called an “unsecured” storage  area. The bike was valued at less than $500.
