District 96 schools closed Monday

According to the Emergency Closing Center, School District 96 schools will be closed on Monday, Nov. 26.  Emergency Closing Center.

Information has not been posted on the District 96 website as of 9:20 p.m.  That site is kcsd96.org

The on-again, off-again saga of Wild Fork, a meat market that carries a variety of traditional and nontraditional meats and seafood has been resolved.             Village officials confirmed Wednesday that the market has been issued permits to do construction on a 4,000 square foot space at Lake-Cook and McHenry Roads.             Despite what was posted on social media, the issues surrounding the store deciding to build on the site had nothing to do with the village, but involved negotiations between the  GW Properties, the site’s developer/owner and Mid-America Real Estate Corporation which specializes in leasing retail properties.  Mid-America is the leasing agent for The Grove, the plaza on the northeast side of Lake-Cook and McHenry roads that is anchored by Jewel-Osco.           While no exact date for completion of Wild Fork has been determined, a source told BGNI that a February openin...

Liquor store burgled / BG Days set / Contested Board race looms

Retail burglary –  Police report that officers responded to an alarm at Dev Liquors, 1170 McHenry Road. Upon arrival, reports say officers observed two vehicles pulling out of the parking lot. Officers pursued the vehicles at a high rate of speed on McHenry Road, but, say reports, were unable to apprehend them. Reports say the front window of the store was smashed and items inside were in disarray. Retail theft –  Police were summoned to Woodman’s Market, 1550 Deerfield Pkwy. in response to a complaint of a person stealing items. Police did not identify the person nor the items taken. The department did, however, say the person was charged with retail theft and criminal trespass to “real” property. Theft  – A couple having dinner at Flambe Indiana, 1155 McHenry Rd. apparently didn’t like the restaurants’ smoking policy. Police say the couple entered the restaurant, and ate dinner. Robbery investigated / Bob McNeely remembered / Green 53?

  Robbery – Police are continuing their investigation into a robbery in the 1200 Block of Johnson Drive. Reports say the victim told police he was robbed while exiting his vehicle while it was parked in a parking space near his residence. The victim, who was not seriously injured, said two male subjects dressed in hoodies took personal items from him. Police say the two left the scene in a black SUV before they arrived. Theft – A resident in the 400 block of Raphael told police – that a battery was stolen from her front lawn. She told police she saw an unknown male grab the battery and leave in a gray pickup truck. Theft – Police say a resident in the 10 block of Canterbury Lane told them that a woman walked up to the door of a residence and took a package that had been delivered. Retail thefts – A 35-year-old Arlington Heights woman was charged with two felony counts of retail theft after she allegedly stole more than $300 of goods from Woodman’s on two separate occas...
